Galveston’s Fourth of July Parade and Celebration

Come Fourth and join us in the fun at Galveston’s 4 of July Parade and Celebration!
It’s not too late to participate. Decorate your bicycle, tricycle, golf cart, skates, horses, wagons, carriages, floats, or any other favorite mode of transportation and join us in the parade! Strike up the band and march with us! We welcome all organizations, businesses, civic, church and musical groups, individuals and families. Participation in the parade is free and fun for the entire family.
The parade is immediately followed by a celebration of our nation’s birth in the air-conditioned comfort of Galveston Railroad Museum, 123 25 Street. The celebration will include musical entertainment by Sparky Koerner and a patriotic program hosted by Joe Huff of Galveston College. Hot dogs and lemonade refreshments will be provided by our organizers and Sweet Leaf Tea will be on hand to provide their delicious brews. In addition to free admission to all the Museum’s exhibits, the Railroad Museum will also provide train rides (cost: $5.00) on their SP Diesel Switcher Locomotive!
The Galveston Railroad Museum is collectingfor our injured soldiers recovering in Texas’ military facilities; CD's, DVD's, Books on Tape, Phone & Gift Cards are appreciated!
The parade begins at 10am at the Galveston Railroad Museum on 25 Street, heading south and winding its way through historic downtown Galveston, from Postoffice Street to 21 Street, north on 21 Street to Strand, then west on Strand to 25 Street. Join us along the parade route to celebrate with local civic organizations and families, and salute those who have ensured our nation’s freedom! The parade will take place (light) rain or shine, but in the event of threatening weather, we will proceed indoors for the festivities.
